Well, it’s not really Record cover appreciation day, I don’t know if it exists, but I love music. And I love buying cds. I like to have the actual physical album. And I love looking at them. Today I’d just like to post some great record covers. Here we go.

The only album released by the british mathrock band Foals, Antidotes. It's kind of a simple cover. But I think it's great. It's quite strange in a subtle way, almost like the music.

I discovered Foals when they were one of four opening acts for Blur in Hyde Park this summer. (One of the greatest days of my life) And they blew me away.

This is Hardcore by Pulp. This one is quite scary i think. It creeps me out just a little bit. And the title across the cover. “THIS IS HARDCORE” in pink. Yuck. I’ve almost just got this album as a birthday present from my girlfriend.

The Empyrean by John Frusciante (my favorite guitarist of all time! Best known as the guitarist of Red Hot Chili Peppers). Now this one is really fantastic. So imaginative and complex. I wish I had the vinyl. If I had I would listen to the album, and sit and stare at cover and look at all the details.

By The Way by Red Hot Chili Peppers. I really like these picture/paintings where there’s painted on a photo. I believe the painting is done by John Frusciante and the woman is his then-girlfriend.

This one is the cover of the Blur single Beetlebum. I just think it compliments the song really good. I think I’ll provide you with a link, so you can hear for yourself: HERE

And links to music with the bands as well!

Foals

Pulp

John Frusciante

Red Hot Chili Peppers: Well… everybody knows them anyways. ;)

Good night.

  1. Correction:) said

    The painting was done by the father of the (then) girlfriend (re: By The Way cover art). He’s actually a famous artist called Julian Schnabel.

  2. Oh. Okay. Nice. Thank you very much. :) I just thought it was Frusciante, since he an artist too, although not really a famous one. And I thought I read it somewhere. Anyways. Thanks. (;
